ORDER OF THE RESURRECTIONS (1)
THE LAST ENEMY DESTROYED (1)
1 Corinthians 15:20-28
King James Version (KJV)
20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and
become the firstfruits of them that slept.
21 For since by man came death, by man came
also the resurrection of the dead.
22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ
shall all be made alive.
23 But every man in his own order: Christ
the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have
delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down
all rule and all authority and power.
25 For he must reign, till he hath put all
enemies under his feet.
26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is
death.
27 For he hath put all things under his
feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is
excepted, which did put all things under him.
28 And when all things shall be subdued unto
him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things
under him, that God may be all in all.35 But some man will say, How are the
dead raised up? and with what body do they come?
15:20 The first fruits are the first ripened part of the
harvest, furnishing actual evidence that the entire harvest is on the way. According to Lev. 23:4-14, the first fruits in
connection with the Passover, were used to consecrate the coming harvest. Jesus
died on the Passover, and His resurrection is a promise of our own
resurrection.
15:21, 22 The
Second Coming of Christ will complete the resurrection harvest. Having subdued
all enemies, Christ
will turn over the reins of divine government to God, even the Father.
15:23-25 The resurrection body will not be subject to death;
it will be beautiful and perfect; it will have unlimited capabilities unknown
to us in this age; it will be adapted for life in the spiritual realm. A spiritual body does not mean an immaterial body
but one adapted to the realities of the Age to Come. The resurrection body will be our very own
bodies changed, for that which is sown is that also which is raised.
15:28 The goal of history and the consummation of the
covenant will occur when the kingdom is delivered up to God, when creation will
be completely free of all dissident, antilife forces. Once this redemptive task
is completed, the saving meditorial role that Jesus assumed will be laid aside.…..
