2 Thessalonians 2:8-10
New King James Version (NKJV)
8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
WARNING:
The Antichrist is given
the title "man of lawlessness" because he will oppose in every
way the biblical God and His law. He will be completely lawless. Daniel 7
speaks of this man as a "boastful" king who will "try to
change the set times and the laws" (verses 11 and 25). He will come
offering a false peace to the world and will with his charismatic personality,
incredible promises, and breathtaking miracles unite all nations politically,
economically, and religiously under his leadership. At the same time, he will
make a covenant with Israel for three and one-half years (cf. Daniel
9:27, where “seven” indicates seven years). In the middle of the seven
years, the man of lawlessness will break his covenant with Israel, stop
their sacrifices (Daniel 9:27), and enter the temple to set himself up
as "god" and demand worship (2 Thessalonians 2:4). This
is the “abomination that causes desolation” that Jesus spoke of in Mark
13:14.
Contrary to mass belief,
Satan and Lucifer are two different names and are
not the same exact entities. This is the current misconception that many Bible
believers have come to know for many generations already. The misconceptions
between Lucifer and Satan, as the exact same entity or name, started with the
misinterpretations of the Gospel by various sectors. Lucifer is a name that was
mentioned only once in the KJV or King James Version of the Bible, specifically
in Isaiah 14:12. But in Hebrew, the literal translation for his name would mean
'to shine' or 'to bear light.' In the said gospel, Lucifer was likened to the
parable of the King of Babylon wherein he was seen as someone who wanted to
rule over all making himself similar to God. This monarch would be depicted as
a man who will see the collapse of his dominion. He will die like a man, eaten
by worms and his grave being walked upon. This could not be Satan because Satan
has no physical form. He is a spirit that lives in the dark Spirit world,
postulated to be somewhere between heaven and earth (just below heaven).
Lucifer is
the angel of God that He named in heaven as one of the most, or perhaps the
most perfect angel ever created. It was only when Lucifer was cast down from
heaven that his alternate entity was known as Satan. Lucifer was banished
because of his pure egoism, not to mention his pride that was regarded as his
greatest sin. Hence by theory, Lucifer is the first one to have committed sin,
and is not the opposite of God, because he was also a creature made by God. He
can thus be more likened to Michael the Archangel, in terms of position.
Satan is the name given
to the devil, and implies more on the idea of an opposing resistance.
It is said that
Satan has lived in the Spirit world for more than 6,000 years. In this regard,
he has not yet been visible to human beings. It is however foretold that he
will make himself visible soon by appearing physically in the world and will
call himself the Beast, a very remarkable being that will proclaim himself as
God.
- Satan works
through the Antichrist, for Satan himself is not able to become
incarnate personified/ embodied) By possessing and controlling the
Antichrist, Satan is worshipped in the temple where the biblical God is to be
worshipped. No wonder the Antichrist is called the man of lawlessness.
To act as "god" is the ultimate rejection of the biblical
God’s character and laws.
The Antichrist. Who is it?
Answer:
The Antichrist is both a person and an evil spirit; and is everything that is anti-Christ;
everything that opposes Christ and the Gospel of Christ. Since the great
opponent of Christ is the devil, then Satan himself—and all the evil he spreads—is
the Antichrist (with a capital A). ...to be cont'd
