DANIEL’S FINAL VISION - THE END TIMES
Daniel 12:1-13
King James Version (NIV)
12 And at that time
shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy
people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was
a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be
delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth
shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting
contempt.
3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of
the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever
and ever.
4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the
book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge
shall be increased.
5 Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood other
two, the one on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on that side
of the bank of the river.
6 And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon
the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders?
7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the
waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto
heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time,
times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of
the holy people, all these things shall be finished.
8 And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my
Lord, what shall be the end of these things?
9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are
closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but
the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the
wise shall understand.
11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be
taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a
thousand two hundred and ninety days.
12 Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand
three hundred and five and thirty days.
13 But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt
rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.
SUMMARY:
Well, here we are at the end of our study of the Book of Daniel. It is my prayer that you have been enlightened as I, with the revelations of the entire book, but especially with the closing. The book of Daniel, as I shared in the beginning of this study, reveals Christ and the Holy Spirit at work. And, I further pray that each of you, who read this blog, will understand that Daniel teaches steps to knowing God. We must know that God will judge and that "everyone" will give an account to God for his/her conduct.
KINGDOM DYNAMICS:
12:1 A
time of trouble: The last three and
one-half years of Daniel’s Seventieth Week 24:21-28
Ψ CLASSICAL
INTERPRETATION: The
classical view sees this time of trouble as a resumption of the events of
Antiochus IV described in 11:36-45. But again, this school of thought suggests
that an ultimate antitype may also be found in the events of the Book of
Revelation, affirming the principle of multilevel prophetic fulfillment.
12:2 These two resurrections are further explained
in Rev. 20:4-15. The first resurrection takes place before the Millennium and
the second after the Millennium, just prior to the Great White Throne Judgment.
12:4-9
Shut up the words, and seal the book: Many dispensational writers
believe this time of the end refers to the fact that Daniel’s vision of the
Seventy Weeks was not understood until the nineteenth century A.D. Others feel this
seems highly unlikely. The most obvious meaning seems to be that the latter
events of the Book of Daniel will not have great relevance until later in
history.
Ψ CLASSICAL
INTERPRETATION: The
classical prophetic writers view this time as being from the period of
Antiochus IV onward.
IN CLOSING
Dear Friends,
Please
understand that there shall be a glorious reward granted upon all those who, in the day of trouble and distress, being themselves wise,
did teach and train many. Recall, those were taken particular notice of in the
prophecy of the persecution (Dan. 11:33), that they should do important
service, and yet still should fall by the sword and by flame; now, if there
were not another life after this, they would be of all men most miserable, and
therefore we are here assured that they shall be reimburse/rewarded in the
resurrection of the just (Dan. 12:3): Those that are wise (that are
teachers, so some read it, for teachers have need of wisdom, and those that
have wisdom themselves should communicate it to others) shall shine as the
brightness of the firmament, shall shine in glory, heavenly glory, the glory of
the upper world; and those that by the wisdom they have, and the instructions
they give, are instrumental to turn any, especially to turn many to
righteousness, shall shine as the stars for ever and ever
